The Archaeology of the Motorways”: Nastasivka village, Khorol district.

The part of the township of 18th – the beginning of 20th cc. was excavated next to the neighbouring Nastasivka village, Nastasivka II. In the process of survey more than twenty dwelling and household facilities were excavated: cellars, dust-holes, deep foundation sections, the complexes with heat–assistance or technological equipment – ovens, taken to the open-air areas. The above–ground structures’ foundations are practically not preserved. Their existence can only be traced in several clusters of the brick and household waste foundation structures.

Among the findings there are fragments and breakups of the domestic pottery, oven tiles, semi-porcelain dish ware, objects made of glass and metal, as well as coins. Among the artefacts that belong to the middle of 18th – the beginning of 19th c. there are several interesting ceramic items, the fragments of semi-porcelain dish ware, manufactured in Turkey, mainly by the Kutahi craftsmen, glazed dishes by Bakhchysarai potters, a series of the glass containers.

The most distinguished artefacts are decorative oven tiles with peculiar ornamentation, which has not been discovered on the territory of Poltava region before. The majority of these findings have been restored and now they are exhibited in the Poltava Museum of Local Lore.
