Sukhobokov (1971), Ye. O. Horiunov (1972). Major excavations were conducted by Yu. Yu. Morhunov and R. V. Terpylovskyi (1990-1992).
The archaeological complex comprising the fortified settlement and the township occupies the south-western edge of the elongated floodplain terrace on the right bank of the Sula River.
The fortified settlement is situated in the south-western uphill part; it has sub-square shape on the plan with dimensions 48 х 44 m, the area is 0.19 ha. The area is protected by a semicircle breastwork 1.50 m high, there is also observable ditch 6-7m wide and up to 1.5 m deep from the side facing the enemy. The excavations of the fortified settlement covered three quarters of its area, except for the south-eastern part. The survey area makes up 2,144 sq. m.
The objects which belong to several cultural and chronological horizons have been discovered there. One dwelling and eight facilities are dated as the annalistic Severiane tribe times. Two dwellings, two facilities and eight middens belong to the Old Russian times.
The township occupies the western uphill part, where 7 excavation sites have been made (area of 3,556 sq.m.). There 19 dwellings of the Old Russian times and 97 middens, mostly belonging to the Early Slavic period, were discovered The remains of the road from 8 to 12 m wide were discovered in the eastern part of the village.
Vast collection of findings, providing insight to the everyday and military activities of the population, comes from the territory of the settlement. The usage of the village and the fortified settlement for living stopped at the middle of 13th c., the times of the Mongol-Tatar invasion.

The archaeological complex is multi-layered containing materials from the Middle Bronze Age, late Scythian and Early Slavic times (4th – 3rd cc. BC, 5th – 7th cc. AD), the later stage of Romen culture (the end of 10th – 1st quarter of 11th cc.) and Old Russian times (12th – 1st half of 13th cc.).
